It has been explained that Warlocks are a "by whatever means" class, using forbidden magic, highly illegal rituals, soul manipulation. They use all schools of magic as long as it gives them power. People tend to forget that mechanics don’t have to equal lore. Tauren Sunwalkers aren’t Paladins, they just use the mechanics to represent their unique class. The same could easily be done for mages.
